Bunya Cone Replica

Xzibit
2025
Museum Exhibition

Trade Arts replicated a bunya cone for Xzibit, scaling a natural object into a large-format display piece. The work combined high-precision 3D scanning with large-format printing and scenic finishing to preserve the detail of the original at an enlarged scale.

Scope

Our role covered the full replication path from scan to finished display object.

  • High-precision 3D scanning of the source cone
  • Digital preparation and scaling
  • Large-format 3D printing
  • Assembly and surface preparation
  • Scenic paint finishing
Process

The original cone was 3D scanned to capture its surface detail, then scaled and prepared for large-format printing. Printed sections were assembled, prepared and scenically finished to hold the character of the natural object at display scale.

Outcome

The finished replica preserves the form and detail of a real bunya cone at an enlarged display scale, built for exhibition use.
