Helicopter Display Models

Museum Exhibition

Trade Arts fabricated a set of three scale helicopter display models for Xzibit's Museum and Experience Centres team. The project required translating aircraft reference material into clean, durable physical objects with enough detail to read clearly in an exhibition context.

Scope

Our role covered the practical model-making path from digital preparation through to print, assembly, paintwork, livery detail and display presentation.

  • Digital file preparation and print planning
  • 3D printed aircraft body, rotor and small components
  • Assembly, cleanup and surface finishing
  • Painted rescue-style livery and detail markings
  • 2K automotive-grade clear coat for finish and durability
  • Custom black display stands and bases
Process

The aircraft forms were broken down into printable components, refined where needed, then assembled and finished as compact display models. Particular care went into the visual cues that make the models legible at small scale: rotor proportions, window placement, rescue markings, colour blocking, stand height and viewing angle. A 2K automotive-grade clear coat sealed the finish for long-term display durability.

Outcome

The finished set gives Xzibit a consistent group of display-ready aircraft models, balancing recognisable technical detail with clean exhibition presentation.
