Pterodactyl

Xzibit
2026
Museum Exhibition

Trade Arts digitally sculpted and fabricated a full-scale pterodactyl for Xzibit. The build moved from digital sculpt to printed form to a hand-finished scenic surface, producing a display-ready creature with the presence to anchor an exhibition space.

Scope

Our role covered the full path from digital sculpt through to a finished, display-ready object.

  • Digital sculpting and model preparation
  • Large-format 3D printing
  • Assembly and surface preparation
  • Scenic paintwork and detailing
  • Protective clear coat finish
Process

The form was developed as a digital sculpt, then broken into printable sections, assembled and surface-prepared before scenic paintwork. A clear coat sealed the finish for durability in a display environment.

Outcome

The finished pterodactyl reads as a single, cohesive creature at full scale, built to hold up to close viewing in an exhibition setting.
